Alet Mouton

About Me

aka

Alette Ohnemus...

I Am

Alet Mouton

Earth-rooted. Word-true.
A daughter of silence and clear seeing.
A matriarch of presence who walks the inner terrain with bare feet and a steady heart.
I carry the medicine of simplicity, the kind that recharges the soul with a glance.
I have sat at many fires, at boardrooms and temple spaces alike, always tending the deeper questions beneath the polished ones.

and

I am also Alette Ohnemus

Dream-born. Sound-bathed.
A keeper of the liminal light,
who’s language is vibration, who’s compass is remembrance.
I speak in the tongues of the in-between – star fields, symbols, and soul echoes.
I offer no answers but resonant return.
In me lives the whole: the grounded elder and the mystic weaver,
the one who walks beside you in the world,
and the one who meets you at the edge of your becoming.

Aho

How it all began…

Most people have a traumatic story
but
fortunately I had a happy childhood
with my mom, dad, two sisters, brother, neighbours and friends.

I’ve had some pretty dramatic and colourful experiences in my life,
which you can read about in My Stories.
But
the overall backdrop of my life is, thankfully, one of blessing and joy.

My dad worked hard, was humble, witty and was my mentor.
After his death, nobody ever managed to take his place.
Interestingly, in later years,
my youngest son, Peter, my dad’s namesake,
has stepped into those shoes.

Back to my childhood…
My mom played hard (tennis and bridge)
and created a playroom for us that provided the means
for many hours, and years of stimulation,
with books, puzzles, toys, a piano, a snooker – and table tennis table.
I climbed trees, had the fastest go-cart in the neighbourhood,
loved swimming, playing tennis, doing ballet,
and playing with my friends.
I was head girl at my primary school.
Life was good.
High School was less of a highlight,
But during Covid we all reconnected online and have become better friends now
than we were back then.
And I acquired many new, beautiful friends along the way.

After Matric
I went to Stellenbosch University
but ended up finishing my studies at RAU/UJ.
I finished my Honours in Psychology,
got married and was a stay-home mom for 10 years.
I wanted to be with my two boys as they grew up.
One of my most endearing experiences was breast-feeding them.
I loved being there to witness their first words, steps and schooling.

However,
a definitive moment in my life was when I stood in Checkers,
looked at the lady behind the till and thought:
‘you are so clever, you can work a till’.
I realised I needed to work.
As much as I loved my kids,
being a stay-home mom was going to drive me crazy.
I needed more mental stimulation.

After two minor jobs
I started working for Free to Grow in 1996
as a corporate motivational Lifeskills facilitator
of awesome life changing programmes.
I became a Master Facilitator,
teaching others in the corporate world how to facilitate.
I did this for 25 years and loved each and every workshop and group.
They were like therapy sessions.
Free to Grow felt like my Dharma,
my life’s purpose.

As I started working in 1996
my failing marriage ended in a divorce.
At the same time I also started studying astrology,
painting, doing pottery,
and did many healing courses over a period of years.
I became a Reiki Master and learned Reiflexology:
a combination of Reiki and reflexology foot massage.

I met Lionel Berman and attended many of his Shamanic workshops in Johannesburg.
From a bored housewife I became a super-stimulated and happy single mom.
Yet,
there were many challenges.
I had to market and do the training, and even though I loved the work, I was burnt out and balancing home and work as a single mom was not easy.
There were obviously financial insecurities doing freelance work
and being basically unsupported by my husband.

And then I met Fred and my life shot in to another dimension!

We moved from Jhb to the Cape in 2003, where we got married.
He was the love of my life, my lucky angel.
But
he unfortunately died in 2012.
I still live in our home in beautiful Simon’s Town and love swimming
in the cold ocean!
You will meet him in my stories.

Talking about Fred dying in 2012,
my dad died in 2002 when I was still in Jhb
and my mom in 2014 when I was in the Cape.
My experiences with Fred, my mom, and my dad, on their deathbeds opened me up to
Death-Doula energy.
It is such a privilege to accompany a person on their rite of passage
as they pass through the sacred space
of crossing the threshold
from this dimension to The Other Side.

While Fred was still alive
I was exposed to Shamanic energy in 2009
and went to Peru to experience the deepening of the Munay-Ki with traditional Shamans.
Death Doulah energy and working with ancestors became my thing,
when I had time for it in-between my FTG training
which absorbed most of my energy.

After my mom’s death in 2015
I started dancing and attended many workshops.
My deathbed experience with her catapulted me into yet another dimension.
This experience can be found in one of my stories called ‘Mama’

As an eternal student,
I continued to study astrology after starting in 1996.
I have enjoyed learning from many local and international teachers over the years.

I started writing my short stories in 2015
And somehow turned my artwork, casually done over 20 years,
into a deck of cards in 2019.
Both were a real labour of love!
I am only now (2025) offering them to the world through this website.

I picked up studying Shamanism and started the Kabbalah with Lionel Berman in 2020
when life went online after Covid.

My beautiful Free to Grow training ended during Covid..
My house renovations enabled me to get tenants, to fill the financial gap.
At 60 I assume it was time to retire.
And it set me free to dive into my hobbies with full force.

I started sharing New Moon and Full Moon reports on Facebook during Covid,
which have become monthly offerings on Facebook and a WhatsApp Group.
I currently do full astrology readings
and personalised New Moon and Full Moon readings
via WhatsApp recordings.

My life has become a wonderful weaving of many experiences and studies
which I lovingly offer through this website.

I am deeply grateful for my blessed life.
I am a very proud mother
and grandmother of seven beautiful grandchildren, living in Israel.

I have had many interesting,
but also some dramatic experiences
throughout my life.
It really revealed the amazing presence of Spirit as my guide and protector.

I captured many of these experience in short stories called
The Other Side Within,
which you can read about in the ‘My Stories’ section.
They are fascinating!
I hope you enjoy them!

I also hope you enjoy my cards.
Each one is an expression of a part of my soul.
They were all painted in honour of a real event or dream.
The messages and questions on the back tap into that energy,
which is why people say they are uncanny and real.

It is such a joy and privilege for me to finally meet you here on my website.
Welcome!
